Celebrate the Moments!

Celebrate the Moments!

So I was an event planner in my pre-Corona life and you know what they say...once an event planner, always an event planner! This means that I love throwing a good party and see everything as possible party props and serving utensils. With our current products, it is like a treasure trove for me to re-think and re-imagine all the ways that I can use them for any event that I am throwing. I am currently in the process of helping to throw a baby shower for one of my really good friends (Rona babies is a real thing guys!). She is preggo with her very first baby and I couldn't be more excited for her.  While she is having a baby gender reveal this Saturday (there will definitely be a blog post for this - I'm bringing my camera!), I have decided to proceed with the shower with a neutral spring green because it's just so pretty with all the trees surrounding me right now.

I didn't tell ya'll but I had ordered a sewing machine (my hobby addiction is strong). I have never sewed a thing in my life but I saw all these incredible people sewing masks for our intrepid healthcare warriors and I wanted to do something. Well, let me tell you, IT IS SO HARD!!! Not even the actual sewing...I am strictly talking about getting the thread through the machine! I literally spent morning to night for 3 days straight until I could make a mask. It took me a good week and it's not at all great but I did it! Since, I have hemmed the privacy curtains that I got for my little patio and made masks for everyone that I know, lol.

Anyways, back to the baby shower! I thought it would be super cute to make masks as a party favor with the double benefit of having them available for those women attending that would feel more comfortable within a small crowd. Aren't they cute guys? I mean, if you squint and don't look at the actual seams, they even look semi-competent.

Using our small crates for a centerpieces was a no-brainer. Did I ever share that I used to own a bakery? I will literally use anything for a cake/cupcake/mini dessert/mini food holder...our different sized crates had absolutely no chance! Celebrating with a good party is just what my soul needs right now and what better way than to celebrate a new life coming into this world. So while 2020 is not off to the best of starts, I am still, as always, hopeful for the future.

Beach Day!

Beach Day!

Who else misses the beach?? As much as I would love to go and lay out on the sand and hear the water, it's still not the time to indulge. The next best thing? Create a bit of the beach mentality in your outdoor space! You absolutely don't need much space (since I don't have it with city life living!) but you can still feel like you are only a day away from a beach adventure! How cute are our rustic handmade shelves?? You can dress them any way that you like and they really pop on a wall. I am going to have so much fun playing with ways to dress them up. One of my new projects is to turn my small outdoor space into an outdoor movie theater. This shelf would be a perfect way to "hide" the small projector while looking decorative enough to hold other fun things on my plant wall! More to come as I set it all up! Our mastermind creative team is also looking into offering this with a gold finish! Just a touch more fanciness to any space and let's be honest, who doesn't love a bit of gold? Can't wait to see what they come up with!

Father’s Day: Success!

Father’s Day: Success!

How was everyone’s Father’s Day yesterday? If many of you were like me, my dad was in another state and I couldn’t be with him on his day but many Face Time calls later, he felt the love from here! I celebrated with the special guy in my life...in this home, even though we are not parents by choice, we like celebrating each other when we can. On a pretty day, that means a manly cookout on our newly decorated back patio. We’ve worked hard on it and it took some creativity when you are living in a city...small spaces that we tried to make cozy. More on that later as we develop it more! There will be more future posts on making small spaces work so stay tuned.

Back to our cook out...it always amuses me when I literally put everything together and he turns on the grill and throws some burgers on. However, I guess it’s all about perspective...he thinks he was A) in charge and B) the mastermind behind the success of the night. Luckily he is cute and I let him shine (but secretly knowing that I’m the work horse and the brain in this relationship!).

Yet again, our cutting board/prep center saved the day so that I could load up in the kitchen and bring everything in one go to the grill for toppings. Not only are these boards beautiful but they are versatile and lightweight for carrying around. The hardest part was taking some photos while holding back the big guy from diving into the burgers. My favorite side dish rounded out the yummy meal....blistered shishito peppers with a squeeze of lime right off the grill. Yum!

Eating with our Eyes!

Eating with our Eyes!

So I have a confession...while I absolutely love cooking, during this quarantine, I have cooked waaay more than I ever wanted to. There literally comes a time when I cannot even think about eating something else that I have made for myself! Do you ever feel that way?? In addition (here is where my self rationalization kicks in), I really want to support our local restaurants so that they are around once our city opens up more fully. So, takeout meals occur with some regularity. However, there comes a time in one’s life where takeaway food shouldn’t necessarily have to be eaten right from the disposable container it comes in. We eat with our eyes first right? Presented in the right way, delivery food can take on a restaurant quality meal. This is just one of the reasons that I love our handmade wooden platter. So dang versatile, you can use it for so many things. One of my favorite ways is to present food on it. Whether it’s an appetizer or main course, these gorgeous pieces make whatever you have on them shine! I mean... I could have made this prepackaged sushi at home with hours of prep work right? My eyes say...absolutely!

Quarantine To-Do's

Quarantine To-Do's

I don't know about ya'll but I have been working from home for over 3 months now and while I have finally come up with some structure to my days, I find myself getting antsy to get out. To combat those feelings, I have been looking for all sorts of projects around the house! As many of you have done or are currently doing, organizing my life seems to be the one thing that makes me feel better! I have a bunch of recipes that my mom has given me over the years and most of them are on post-it notes and random notebook pages that I kept in a hatbox of mementos. As you can imagine, not something that I think to take out and use very often. When Mother's Day came around, I thought about organizing them and making them more accessible. I didn't actually get around to doing it but I was reminded again as Father's Day is coming around the corner. So hence, the post today!  How cute is this organized with my thank you cards and other things that I want to keep close to me so I remember to use them?  I loved it so much that I think I am going to make a whole new one for a gift for my sister.  Not forgetting my dad, I am going to use one of our rustic crates to create a custom BBQ gift basket for him! There are so many uses for these handy, hand-made crates and I just love thinking of new uses for them. Hopefully you will check back on our blog to see all the multiple ways that we come up with - I will post them as we create them!  Also, we would love for you to share your ideas with us - you can find us on Facebook and Instagram too!
